Born Aug. 22, 1901, in Corydon, she was the daughter of Edward Monroe and Ida Mae Allen Kelly. On July 2, 1920, in Monticello, she was married to Lester Downs, who died Nov. 20, 1961. On July 20, 1970, she was married to Roscoe Mummert, who died July 25,1982. She had moved to White County when she was nine years old, and was a graduate of Brookston High School. Born Aug. 22, 1901, in Corydon, she was the daughter of Edward Monroe and Ida Mae Allen Kelly. On July 2, 1920, in Monticello, she was married to Lester Downs, who died Nov. 20, 1961. On July 20, 1970, she was married to Roscoe Mummert, who died July 25,1982. She had moved to White County when she was nine years old, and was a graduate of Brookston High School. She had been employed by Forbes Hotel, Webster's Cafe, the White Kitchen, the former Dennie's Corner Restaurant, RCA, and the Bryan Manufacturing Co., all in Monticello. She was a member of Monticello Christian Church and Royal Neighbors of America, and a past member of the Pocahontas Lodge, all in Monticello. Surviving are one son, Harold Downs, Michigan City; one daughter, Donna Grover, with whom she made her home, Cross City, Fla.; one stepson, Gerald "Bud" Mummert, Monticello; two sisters, Agnes Hofer, Hoopston, HI., and Grace Teeter, West Lafayette; 12 grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren. Two daughters, four brothers, and one sister preceded in death. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Miller-Voorhis Funeral Home, with the Rev. Donald Arterburn officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, where a Royal Neighbors service will be held at 7 p.m.
