Description	:	Lily M. Carter was born 18 Aug 1881 to Eugene & Eva (Lunbeck) Carter at Atkinson, NE. She was one of three children, her sister Elsie died young about 4 yrs old. Her brother Lewis A. was born July 1877 at Holt, Co. NE. Many of Lily's Lunbeck relatives live in and around Beatrice, NE. It is not clear just when her parents relocated to Atkinson, NE or why. Carter was born 18 Aug 1881 to Eugene & Eva (Lunbeck) Carter at Atkinson, NE. She was one of three children, her sister Elsie died young about 4 yrs old. Her brother Lewis A. was born July 1877 at Holt, Co. NE. Many of Lily's Lunbeck relatives live in and around Beatrice, NE. It is not clear just when her parents relocated to Atkinson, NE or why. Not much is know about Eugene her father, only that he was living in Grundy Co, IL at the age of 16 with the Thomas family, working as a farmer. He moved with them to Beatrice along with the Lunbeck family. Lily married William Henry Bessey in 1899 at Atkinson, NE, she was age 18 and William was 34. They had six children together. Vernon L., Eva M., Ethel, Hazel, Carl and Viola G. They lived in Atkinson, NE until around 1903, when they moved to Sheridan, WY. Lily was a home maker, enjoyed her membership in the Rebekah's and as an Eastern Star. She loved to cook and do needle work. She was 59 when William passed away, but never remarried. Many of her children and grandchildren lived with them at times. In 1942 Lily was asked to move in with her youngest dau. Viola and family, where she remained until she became ill in 1959, sent to a nursing home until her death. She had many grandchildren and great grandchildren to warm her heart each and every day as she received their cards & letter, and when possible travel to see her in person. She was loved and missed by all her family and the many friends she had in the Rebekah's.
