Passmore Dies Friday At Home In City. Came From Old Line Quaker Family; Was Born In Illinois Pneumonia, with possibly other complications, resulted in the death at 10:30 a.m. Friday of L.G. Passmore. The end came at the family residence in this city after a brief period of illness which had its beginning from a cold caught at the time of the Armistice Day dance in this city. Few of Mr. Passmore's many friends realized that he was critically ill, and the suddenness of his demise was a shock. Mr. Passmore came from an old line Quaker family in Pennsylvania. His father, Samuel B. Passmore, moved from the Quaker state to the wilderness of Illinois in 1855, settling in Ohio county. That section was surcharged with the spirit of Lincoln and the Civil war and this resulting giving the name Lincoln Grant Passmore to the youngest son who was just born at the close of the war. The date of his birth was Dec. 22, 1867, and the place, Walnut, Illinois. Thus at the time of his passing, he was 63 years, 10 months and 29 days. Samuel Passmore was still imbued with the spirit of the pioneer and as Illinois settled up he moved westward across the Mississippi and settled in the western part of Iowa at a place called Griswold, about ten miles from Council Bluffs, in 1870. Here he followed farming and here his youngest son grew to manhood. When L.G. had attained his majority, he went back to Illinois to visit the place of his birth and there he met Miss Belle Armstrong with whom he had played when they were tiny tots. A romance began which culminated in their marriage five years later. The ceremony took place at the Methodist parsonage at Ohio, Illinois, on Feb. 1, 1893. The young couple returned to Iowa and for five years made their home with Mr. Passmore's father, and the son ran the father's place. They remained there until the father passed away and then purchased a place of their own which they operated for four years and sold in 1902. Mr. Passmore and his family then took a mule team and wagon and made a gypsy trip over the country visiting relatives in the states of Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and Colorado. They then took a homestead near Jamestown, N.D., where they resided for a short period and then in 1904 went to Spokane, Wash. They resided on a farm near that city until 1919 when they came to Farmington and purchased the John Buoma place, which has since been their home. Last fall Mr. and Mrs. Passmore came to Choteau to reside. The survivors are his widow, Belle Passmore; two sons, Cecil G. of Farmington, and Harold E. of Pendroy; two brothers, O.A. Passmore of Pomona, Calif., and Ellis Passmore of Los Angeles, Calif.; and one sister, Mrs. Ann Nolte of Fairbury, Neb. Two daughters died in infancy. There are six grandchildren Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Methodist church. Interment was made in Choteau cemetery.
