Son of Stephen J and Mary Still Paper - Jul 21, 1899 Lincoln not in 1880 census ******************* The Marshall Republican, July 21, 1899: Our community was shocked by the sad news of the death of the two sons of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Still who lives on Buffalo. Lonnie, the youngest was taken sick last Sunday night and died at 2 o'clock Wednesday morning. Lincoln was taken on Monday evening and died at 11 o'clock Wednesday evening. They were both buried at the Osborn graveyard Thursday evening in the presence of a host of weeping relatives and sympathizing friends. The father and mother should be comforted by the consolation that their dear children has departed from this world of sin and sorrow that they will not have to go through the trials and tribulations which we have to encounter in this world, but be comforted with the thought they will see them in that happy land above. We cannot express the sorrow of the parents, to give up two of their dear children at the same time. Night is a feeble word to tell of the darkness felt in that dear home, where grief is such that a heart of stone would melt. A few more years shall pass, a few more seasons come we all shall be as they are today-sleeping within the tomb. Last week so gay and full of life, To day so cold and still, Our hearts are crushed and saddened, By the death of Lonnie and Lincoln Still. In tenderness comfort father and mother, So lone, so crushed so pained; May they know that their dear children Is waiting for them on the other shore At the gates of a blessed eternity, With a shining angel band Wailing, watching and loving, Father, mother and all.
