Read More	Linda Genice Anderson was born to Eugene and Margaret (Harris) Utemark, June 16, 1947, in Altadena, California. She passed away October 29, 2021, at home surrounded by family. At the age of two her family moved to Hastings, Nebraska and then shortly thereafter, moved to South Sioux City, Nebraska, where she attended school. Linda was a graduate of South Sioux City High School. Linda competed nationally as a figure skater, and she was the majorette for the South Sioux City High Cardinals. When Linda was 14 just about 15, she met Steve Anderson, who came to see her father, Gene about a horse. On March 25, 1967, Steve and Linda were united in marriage. They were both baptized in the Seventh Day Adventist Church. They resided in the Grand Island, Nebraska area following their nuptials. Their son, Eric was born in 1968 and Lisa their daughter in 1971. They moved back to northeastern Nebraska in 1976 to the family farm in Decatur, Nebraska. Steve and Linda raised Holstein heifer calves and started milking. They also raised, bred, trained, and showed American Quarter Horses. The last 35 years Steve and Linda have lived on an acreage 5 miles north of Lyons, Nebraska, the same home place of Steve's Grandfather, A.L. Anderson. Other than the duties of a farm wife and mother, Linda had a substantial garden every year of their marriage. During the drought of '76, she supplied local grocery stores in Lyons, Decatur, Bancroft, Rosalie, and Walthill with produce. In addition, she assisted with a family business producing and selling Blackbird Potting Soil. She was also a self-employed figure skating instructor at the Sioux City Auditorium and taught baton lessons at Lyons, Decatur and Walthill. Linda was extremely involved with the youth of the Lyons and Decatur area. She was a 4-H leader, softball coach and was always involved with her children's' activities of 4-H, baseball/softball and high school athletics. If Linda was not found at the ball field, the ice-skating rink, or the county fair, you could find her with a group of young people riding a float or marching in a parade. Following her children's' graduation from high school, Linda continued working with youth in 4-H. Linda, who was proud and dedicated to her children, also followed them in their academics and athletic careers at Morningside College. Linda began to work outside of the home in 1984. She worked at Swine Services in Lyons, Bojens & Seymore in Sioux City, Iowa, Automatic Equipment in Pender, Nebraska, and Gateway Computers in North Sioux City, South Dakota. Following her employment at Gateway, Linda found her passion in advertising and publishing. It's been said that Linda Anderson was an unrelenting force as she succeeded in advertising and publishing for newspapers during the age and birth of social media. Where there was a way, Linda found the will. She first worked at Plaindealer Publishing and then for The Panorama, where she was instrumental in starting the publication, Equine Quarterly. Linda then went on to work for Enterprise Publishing Company, where she successfully sold advertising for the South Sioux Star, The Mirror Sun, and Oakland Independent. Linda retired in 2016. At this time, Linda expanded her garden and again provided northeast Nebraska with produce through local farmers markets and grocery stores. Above and beyond all this she enjoyed fishing, camping and Nebraska football. One of Linda's favorite things was to travel and go for drives, which included visits to her son and daughter's families in South Carolina and Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Margaret Utemark. Linda is survived by her husband, Steve Anderson; children, Eric (LeAnn) Anderson and their sons, Andrew, and Jacob of Simpsonville of South Carolina; Lisa Ellis and her son, Samuel and daughter, Lindsay of Gilbert, Arizona. Linda is also survived by her uncle, Norval Utemark and wife Sharon of West Point, Nebraska, along with nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. BURIAL: Lyons Cemetery
