Mrs. Godwin was born the daughter of Thomas Cox and Bernice Mae Casselman Port on July 23, 1949 in Andrews. She was born the third of ten siblings: Vernon Thomas, Lafaye Lamb, Ann Young, Polly Fisher, Patsy Roberts, Peggy Rabon, Dale Moore, Cindy Port, and Addie Sue Port. She was predeceased by: her husband, her parents; and five siblings.
