Ahrens, 23, was born April 3, 1947, in Columbus to Edith Posvar and the late Ernst Melvin Ahrens. At the time of his death he was returning to his Army base at Fort Huachuca, Ariz. Sgt. Ahrens' wife, Linda L., was born August 2, 1947, in Beatrice to Harvey J. and Eunice Plucknett Ahl. A trust fund has been set up for the Ahrens children, Matthew, 5, and Steven, 16 months, who were not injured seriously in the accident. Matthew has been dismissed from a Crete hospital. Their paternal grandmother, Mrs. Melvin Ahrens, lives in Columbus, and their maternal grandparents, the Harvey Ahls, now reside in Miami, Fla. Anyone wishing to contribute to the fund should make checks payable to the "Ahrens Children Fund" and mail their contribution to First National Bank and Trust Company, Columbus, Attention: Ronert Gangel.
