She met John Wesley DeYoung and after two years of being high school sweethearts they were married in 1963 and were together for 51 years. She met John Wesley DeYoung and after two years of being high school sweethearts they were married in 1963 and were together for 51 years. Linda was born May 21, 1946 in Polson to Clair and Erma Dickson. In addition to her loving husband John, she is survived by her son John Darrell (spouse, Jodie); grandchildren Steven (22), Brandon (19), and Terran (16) from Missoula and her son Sean Terrence of Mesa, Ariz. She also leaves behind relatives and friends who will miss her and remember her in their hearts always. Linda retired in 1998 as R.D. Administrative Officer for the Forest Service. She and her husband John wintered in Mesa, Ariz. and continued living in their home in Libby for the rest of the year. She loved her children, grandkids, cooking and her dog Bandit, who misses her almost as much as her family does. She was a caring wife, mother and grandmother who loved taking care of her friends and family, especially her husband John. They were a wonderful team and best friends. John loved and supported Linda all of her life, particularly the last three years during her courageous battle with liver cancer when she needed him most. Linda was loving and gracious and many memories were created these last few years. Flathead Lake was a touchstone to gather and many friends and family found themselves there celebrating and laughing by a campfire under the stars. Linda was heard to say just recently that she didn't want to go because "I just DON'T want to MISS anything!" Her family and friends will surely miss her. Linda is preceded in death by her parents Clair and Erma Dickson of Polson and her sister Connie Brown of Seattle. There will a celebration of Linda's life in the summer in Polson, where she will be buried next to her parents.
