Linda was born the daughter of Frank and Beulah (Courter) Reed on December 10, 1950. The youngest of six children, she was raised in the rural countryside outside of Lexington, Nebraska. She graduated from Lexington High School with the Class of 1969. Shortly after high school, she found employment in Holdrege where she met her soon-to-be husband.
