Description	:	Son of William Pearson and Isabella Ferguson Breeden, husband of Esca Meade Banks. BENNETTSVILLE - L. Kistler Breeden, Marlboro County treasurer since 1953, died suddenly at his home in Bennettsville about 3 p.m. Saturday. Survivors include his widow, the former Esca Banks of Florence, and one son, Dr. William H. Breeden of Fayetteville, NC. He was a son of the late William Pearson and Belle Ferguson Breeden, a native and lifelong resident of Bennettsville and was educated in the local schools. Kistler Breeden, Marlboro County treasurer since 1953, died suddenly at his home in Bennettsville about 3 p.m. Saturday. Survivors include his widow, the former Esca Banks of Florence, and one son, Dr. William H. Breeden of Fayetteville, NC. He was a son of the late William Pearson and Belle Ferguson Breeden, a native and lifelong resident of Bennettsville and was educated in the local schools. Mr. Breeden graduated from Wofford College in 1909. After college he was associated with his father in the horse and mule business and later was connected with Breeden Brothers Auto Co. for a number of years. In 1955, Mr. Breeden was appointed to fill the unexpired term of the late Mrs. Bessie R. David as county treasurer, and was elected to the office without opposition in 1958. Active in the religious and civic life of the community, he had served in numerous capacities: as a member of the city council, director of the Marlboro County Red Cross Chapter and County TB Association and as a former director of the Kiwanis Club. Some years ago, he was made a vestryman for life in St. Pauls Episcopal Church and has also held several positions in the Diocese of South Carolina. Published in The State, September 18, 1960
