Description	:	Waldo - Linton Charles "L.C." Reid, age 89, went home to his heavenly father on February 15, 2014. Always young at heart, L.C. was the baby of eight children. Born to the late Lawson C. and Leona Reid, L.C. was raised in Atlanta, Georgia, but always wanted to live in his wife's hometown, "The Big City" of Waldo. They finally built their home and moved there in 1979. He became part of the community through service at the First Baptist Church of Waldo where he was a deacon. L.C. served his country for ten years in the U.S. Navy. During... Read More	Waldo - Linton Charles "L.C." Reid, age 89, went home to his heavenly father on February 15, 2014. Always young at heart, L.C. was the baby of eight children. Born to the late Lawson C. and Leona Reid, L.C. was raised in Atlanta, Georgia, but always wanted to live in his wife's hometown, "The Big City" of Waldo. They finally built their home and moved there in 1979. He became part of the community through service at the First Baptist Church of Waldo where he was a deacon. L.C. served his country for ten years in the U.S. Navy. During World War II he was on the USS New York, a destroyer, and the USS Hilbert, a destroyer escort. Later he had the opportunity to renew friendships with the Hilbert crew through annual reunions. L.C. worked in sales and management in the tire business at several locations in Georgia and Florida. In 1972 while manager of the Charter Tire Store on "Reid" Street in Palatka, he was President of the Lions Club. L.C. was a lifelong fisherman. He fished for speckled perch in Lake Alto, bass in the St. Johns River and red fish in the Indian River. He fished with Bass Masters but most of his fishing was with family. He last fished at Christmas with Jose, his grandson-in-law and longtime fishing buddy. L.C. loved time spent with his family. He was a people person with a smile and had encouraging words for all. L.C. was dearly loved and will be missed. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Pauline Ann DeSha Reid; daughter, Sara Ann Hansen; 3 step-grandchildren, Laura (Jose) Saavedra, Linda (Jesse) Herron, Michael (Nancy) Hansen; 6 great-grandchildren, Justin (Megan), Brittany, Jessica, Andrew, Chelsie and Elena; and great-great grandson, Wyley. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at 11:00am at First Baptist Church of Waldo with Reverend Jim Dubois officiating.
