Read More	Husband of Susan Marie Whitlock ---------- Death of Superior Waugh Lionel W Waugh, died at his home near Spirit Lake last Saturday in his 41st year. He lived only five day after being confirmed with lung fever. It is seldon that an event chronleled in these columns is attended with so much genuine sorrow. After long years of acquaintance with Mr. Waugh a great many in this community will testify that few better men in all essentials are found in the busy haunts of life. Lionel W. Waugh was born in Maine, where he had a home until he reached man's estate, when for a munber of years he followed sea-faring pursuits, rising to positions of responsibility before he abandoned the water. He became a resident of this town in 1867, where since has had a home. Mr. Waugh had served as a member of the Board of Superviors consecutively for five years, having a little more than a year yet to serve before the expiration of his term. We will take the responsibility of asserting that he has done more work for the public for the amount of compensation received than any man who has held office in the county, He has been a most faithful servant, and any man who has felt disposed to throw mud at him for offical conduct has in every instance failed to make it stick. Linel W Waugh was "the noblest work of God" - an honest man. His rugged integrity and stern sence of duty have manfifest to every man who has met him in everyday life. His record is not marred by a mean act or dirty job, and if it be that in the unknown and unknowable hereafter men are to face the register of deeds done in the body and to be judged accordingly, Lionel Waugh has clear title to possessions in the Kingdom. As a neighbor, Mr. Waugh was highly prized. Full of the milk of human kindness, and ever ready to preform in an unassuming way of his own those deeds of kindness so inestimably valnable and not to be purchased with gold. We know the hearts of this whole people go out to the widow and seven dependent children so unspeakably bereft. The Beacon would gladly say a word to assuage their crushing sorrow, if words in print were less than hollow mockery at such times. Almost the entire community assembled at the M. E. Chursh last Monday to pay a last tribute of respect to the departed neighbor whose cherry countenance, kind words, and ringing laugh will be known no more forever, after which the mortal casket was tenderly laid in Lakeview Cemetery. *The Spirit Lake Beacon, Dec. 1, 1881 -------------
