Description	:	Lisa J. (Wadell) Smith, 39 September 12, 1974 ~ June 4, 2014 Lisa Wadell Smith, 39, of Gretna NE, passed away Wednesday, June 4th after a two year battle with breast cancer. Born on September 12, 1974, she was raised in Aurora, NE by Delmer and Lorey Wadell. (Wadell) Smith, 39 September 12, 1974 ~ June 4, 2014 Lisa Wadell Smith, 39, of Gretna NE, passed away Wednesday, June 4th after a two year battle with breast cancer. Born on September 12, 1974, she was raised in Aurora, NE by Delmer and Lorey Wadell. Lisa graduated from Aurora High School and went on to receive a Communications degree from North Park University in Chicago IL. Lisa met her husband, Jason Smith, while working at Mutual of Omaha. They were married in November of 2002, and in January of 2007 their son Dylan was born. In June of 2012 Lisa's nephew and niece, Zach and Caliegh Wadell, joined their family. Lisa was passionate and gifted in many areas. She loved music and played the oboe in high school and college. She worked in public relations for Omaha Public Schools and Mutual of Omaha. She was very involved in her church, Community Covenant Church, volunteering and serving on many committees as well as serving on the Covenant Midwest Conference board. Lisa is survived by her husband, Jason Smith; son Dylan; niece Caleigh Wadell; nephew Zach Wadell; her parents, Delmer and Lorey Wadell; brother, Brent Wadell; and many extended family that have loved her dearly. Services Friday, June 6th at 5 pm at First Covenant Church, 201 N. 90 St., Omaha, followed by lunch at the church. Viewing will be from 3-5 pm Friday at the church. Interment Saturday, 9:30 am in Aurora, Nebraska, followed by a memorial Celebration of Life service at 10:30 am at Evangelical Covenant Church, 1009 First Street, Aurora, NE. Memorials will be directed by the family. Jason Smith wanted to work out at the Mutual of Omaha wellness center. The treadmill next to Lisa Wadell was free. The two Mutual employees struck up a conversation.... In 2012, when their son Dylan was 5 years old, their family grew as they welcomed niece and nephew Caleigh and Zach Wadell into their home as their parents were unable to care for them. Soon after, there was another crisis: Lisa was diagnosed with State 4 breast cancer. The family lived each of the next days to their fullest. Lisa loved to travel, and after the weeks of bed-rest from the chemo were over, they took a family trip to Branson Missouri, a husband-wife trip to Yellowstone, and even a trip to Florida with her parents. She celebrated each day of life that she had. By December, 2013, the cancer grew worse. She left this world and entered eternity June 4, 2014 at age 39. Today, her husband Jason remembers the good. "She did not want me to crawl in a hole and hide. When she was diagnosed, she gave me a little block of wood that says, 'Live the Life You've Imagined'. We're staying as strong as we can and are moving forward."
