Stanley Ballard and Rev. James Epperson officiated at 2:00 p.m. service. Stanley Ballard and Rev. James Epperson officiated at 2:00 p.m. service. Lizzie Simmerman, 90, was born February 6, 1881 in Cumberworth, Lincolnshire, England the daughter of Benjamin and Jane White Kirk. She was educated in the Madison and Clarke County schools. On February 2, 1901 she was married to George Alva Simmerman in Clarke County, Iowa. Ten children were born to this union. She was a housewife and resided in Madison and Clarke Counties the past 82 years. She was a Charter member of the Madison Chapel Church and was affiliated with the Murray United Methodist Church. Surviving relatives include Nellie Housh, Cisco, Texas; Helen Spellerberg, Osceola; Aubrey Simmerman, Truro; Bessie Burnett, Peru; Mary Kirby, Murray; Robert Simmerman, Stehekin, Washington; George and David Simmerman of Murray; 20 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. Also brothers and sisters; Clara Camp, Peru; Hiriam Kirk, Peru; Susie Short, Winterset; White Kirk, Bull Shoals, Arkansas; Margaret Thurman, Las Vegas, Nevada. She was preceded in death by her husband, George in October 6, 1947; daughter, Gladys Drew and an infant daughter. Interment was in Union Cemetery, Murray, Iowa.
