Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday April 18 at Nazareth Lutheran Church Cambridge. Mr. Porter was born Nov 16, 1887, in St Paul, Minn., to Anton and Amy Porter. On Feb. 6, 1926, he was married to Susie M. Hetland in Boone. He was a veteran of World War I and following his discharge moved to Cambridge where he farmed until his retirement. He had lived the past several years in Ames with his daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Paul Tomlinson. He was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, Cambridge, and a 60 year member of the American Legion post #233. Survivors in addition to his daughter include a son, William Porter, McAllen, Texas, five grandchildren, and two sisters, Lillian Nippolt and Ruth Stroka, both of St. Paul, Minn. He was preceded in death by his wife, Susie, a daughter, Doris, a brother Louie, and two grandchildren.
