Description	:	Lloyd Alexander Whitley 84, of Norwood, died Sunday Afternoon, May 15, 2011 at Carolina's Medical Center in Charlotte. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at South Stanly Baptist Church. Rev. Mike Rinehardt and Rev. Nathan Fox will officiate. Interment will follow in Barbee's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Monday evening at Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood. Mr. Whitely was born July 31, 1926 in Stanly County. He was a son of the late Lindsay and Lessie Smith Whitley. He was a WWII Army Veteran and a member of South Stanly Baptist Church. After a successful Insurance Career he opened Whitley's Music Scene in Norwood and enjoyed teaching music for 33 years. He is survived by his wife Montize Lefler Whitley of the home. One daughter, Donna Harvell and husband Leonard of Oakboro. Three sons, Dale Whitley and wife Jill of Oakboro, Steve Whitley of Glen Alpine, and Mark Whitley of Charlotte. One brother, Marshall Whitley of Oakboro. Three sisters, Cropsy Burgess and Doris Mabry both of Norwood and Kathleen Hahn of Oakboro. Four step-daughters, Dorothy Huneycutt of Richfield, Judy Coggin of Martinsville, VA, Paulette Smith of Albemarle, and Mabel Thompson of Norwood. One step-son William Shue of Norwood. Eight Grandchildren, Eleven Great-Grandchildren, Fourteen Step-Grandchildren and Eighteen Step-Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a wife, Ruby Pinion Whitley, Two brothers, Glenn and Harold Whitley, one sister, Rosa Farmer, one grandson, Leonard Troy Harvell and one step-daughter, Brenda Hinson. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to South Stanly Baptist Church, 40907 South Stanly School Road, Norwood, NC 28128
