Description	:	Lloyd D. McLean, 86, a life resident of St. Andrews and a prominent rancher and civic leader of Douglas County, died Saturday afternoon, May 10, 1997, in the Terrace Heights Nursing Center in Moses Lake. He was born on April 14, 1911, to Del and Emma (Glessner) McLean at Sims Corner. He received his early education at Hazelton Country School and attended Mansfield High School, graduating in 1930. McLean, 86, a life resident of St. Andrews and a prominent rancher and civic leader of Douglas County, died Saturday afternoon, May 10, 1997, in the Terrace Heights Nursing Center in Moses Lake. He was born on April 14, 1911, to Del and Emma (Glessner) McLean at Sims Corner. He received his early education at Hazelton Country School and attended Mansfield High School, graduating in 1930. On Nov. 20, 1933, he married Mabel Murison at Davenport. In 1935, they moved to the ranch at St. Andrews, where they have since resided. Lloyd was a charter member of the Sims Corner Grange and the St. Andrews Grange, a member of the Douglas County Pomona Grange, 7th Degree member of the Washington State Grange and the National Grange. He was chosen Douglas County Cattleman of the year in 1950 and was given an award to the Douglas County Cattleman's Hall of Fame in 1981. Lloyd and Mabel were honored as Douglas County Outstanding Conservation Farmers for the year in 1987. He served as a Douglas County PUD commissioner from 1956 until 1980, was elected president of the Washington Public Power Association in 1981 and has a lifetime membership in the Northwest Power Association. In 1968, he was honored by the American Shorthorn Association as the member registering the most Shorthorn cattle, and most recently, received the Honorary Service Award from the Foster Creek Conservation District for promoting and practicing good conservation stewardship in the state. Mr. McLean is survived by his wife of over 63 years, Mabel of the family home; one daughter and her husband, Phyllis and Tom Jess of Waterville; one son and his wife, Phillip and Rayma McLean of Moses Lake; a brother, Ralph McLean of Coulee City; a sister and her husband, Dorothy and Jack Leedy of Wenatchee; four grandsons, Jim Jess of Coulee City, Wade Jess of Grand Coulee, Jason McLean of Moses Lake and Aaron McLean of Cheney; a granddaughter, Jenny McLean of Cheney; four great-grandchildren, Ty, Brandon, Garrett and Cody Jess; and longtime ranch hands, Dan, Kathy, Mark and Dawn Sanderlin of Coulee City.
