Description	:	Services for Lloyd George Rasmussen, 93, of Plainview will be at 10:00 AM., Thursday, December 27th, at Zion Lutheran Church in Plainview. Pastor Jonathan Meraz will be officiating and burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Lloyd died Friday, December 21, 2012 at the Plainview Hospital. Lloyd was born May 5, 1919 in Pierce County, Nebraska to R.J. and Ethel (Timmerman) Rasmussen. He was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church in Plainview. Lloyd enlisted in the Army and served in World War II from January 1942 thru the fall of 1943, when he was medically discharged. He served in Australia and New Guinea. On November 10, 1945, Lloyd married Elaine Retzlaff. They were blessed with three children. Lloyd and Elaine farmed south of Plainview until retiring and moving into Plainview. Lloyd loved and enjoyed his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Elaine, of 67 years; their children, Sandra Christiansen of Norfolk, Peggy and Harlan Johnson of Ellisville, MO., and Keith and Carol Rasmussen of Pierce; ten grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and three brothers, Lyle Rasmussen of Reno, NV., Robert (Ann) Rasmussen of Nashville, TN., and Henry (Margaret) Rasmussen of Richardson, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, three sisters, and a son-in-law, Darrel Christiansen.
