Funeral services were held Monday at the Union church in Madison township for Lloyd H. Woods, former Clarke county representative in the Iowa Legislature and former clerk of the district court here. He was 72 years old. He died in a nursing home in Osceola Saturday, October 13, where he had been a patient for some time. Services were conducted by Watts Funeral service with Rev. Lacey Thompson, pastor of the Murray Methodist church, officiating. Burial was in Union cemetery. A son of Charles and Clara Woods, Lloyd was born in Madison Township on July 17, 1884 Most of his life was spent in Madison township and Murray. He taught in the rural schools for about three years and then engaged in general farming. During this time he served on the Madison Township school board for 20 years. From 1933 to 1937 he was Clerk of the District court of Clarke county and levied in Osceola. In 1937 he returned to the farm in Madison township, and during this time was State Representative for two years. In 1943 he moved to Murray where he lived at the time of his death. In 1905 he was united in marriage with Ethel Franks. to this union three sons were born, True Eugene, Georgie, and Cecil Jennings who preceded him in death. On November 11, 1914 he was married to Grace Pearl Gilbert. To this union three sons and a daughter were born: Wayne O., Charles William, Vaughn Gilbert and Twyla Yvonne McConnell. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Grace Woods; his children, Wayne and his wife Louise; Twyla and her husband Frank McConnell of Osceola; Charles and his wife Beatrice of Lorimor; and Vaughn and his wife Audrey of Oskaloosa. Also two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Glynn Woods of Lebam, Washington and Mrs. Aubrey Simmerman of Murray. He leaves 18 grandchildren, a brother, True Woods of Murray, several nieces and nephews.
