Description	:	BYARS - Funeral services for Lloyd L. Byars were held at 2 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church with Rev. John Mikkelsen officiating. The body was cremated with burial in David City Cemetery. Mr. Byars, 69, died Friday in the Butler County Hospital following a three-year illness. He was born June 8, 1910 on a farm near Colby, Kans., to Lewis J. and Anna S. (Bohaty) Byars. He moved to David City in 1919 and lived on a farm his family purchased. The body was cremated with burial in David City Cemetery. Mr. Byars, 69, died Friday in the Butler County Hospital following a three-year illness. He was born June 8, 1910 on a farm near Colby, Kans., to Lewis J. and Anna S. (Bohaty) Byars. He moved to David City in 1919 and lived on a farm his family purchased. He graduated from David City High School. On July 10, 1945, he married Ilene Nichols in Denver, Colo. They moved to Columbus, Neb., in 1946 where he owned Byars Tractor Service. In 1954 he moved to Idaho Springs, Colo., and was owner of Byars Clothing Store for 10 years and then moved to Park Rapids, Minn. where he managed Fuller Tackle Shop for seven years. He retired to Mesa, Ariz., for a year when he became ill and returned to Columbus in 1976. He was a member of the Methodist Church; Masonic Lodge, Idaho Springs, Colo.; Past President of Lions Club, Idaho, Springs; Mayor Idaho Springs for four years. Survivors include his wife, Ilene; two sons, Donald and wife, Becky of Indianola, Iowa, and Thomas and wife, Pam of Oakes, N.D.; six grandchildren, Brian, Wendy and Sean Byars of Indianola, Iowa, and Jason, Molly and Katie Byars of Oakes, N.D.; two aunts, Clara Pascoe, Long Beach, Calif., and Elizabeth Koch of David City.
