Description	:	Lloyd "Lynn" Cox, son of Lloyd L. and Florence J. (Hinman) Cox, was born December 1, 1924 at Ravenna, Ohio. Lynn died Monday October 24, 2011 at Norfolk Veterans' Home. In 1942, Lynn, along with all of the boys in his graduating class, volunteered for the Aviation Cadets (known as Army Air Corps). Read More	Lloyd "Lynn" Cox, son of Lloyd L. and Florence J. (Hinman) Cox, was born December 1, 1924 at Ravenna, Ohio. Lynn died Monday October 24, 2011 at Norfolk Veterans' Home. In 1942, Lynn, along with all of the boys in his graduating class, volunteered for the Aviation Cadets (known as Army Air Corps). Lynn was a World War II Veteran, serving in Tinian and Okinawa; something he was very proud of. As a bombardier he and the rest of his flight crew helped to train pilots returning from Europe to fly B-29's. The best of these pilots were selected to drop the "A-Bomb" on Hiroshima. Lynn and his flight crew flew over the battleship, U.S.S. Missouri, when the Japanese signed surrender papers on V-J Day. On July 23rd, 1945, Lynn was married to LaVaun Stroh in Pratt, Kansas. He had met LaVaun on a blind date while stationed at the Harvard Air Force Base near Hastings, Nebraska. Lynn and LaVaun were blessed with three children; Christine, Jacob, and Jeffrey. Lynn began his long career in the grocery business in 1946, working for Jack and Jill Stores. He then worked (for pay) in the offices of Ulry-Talbert during the week, and "experience only" on Saturdays. Lynn then worked for Delmonte Foods. His grocery career brought him to Norfolk working for General Wholesale (now known as Affiliated Foods) as Store Development Manager. In 1966, Lynn opened "Lynn and Al's G.W. Foods" of Norfolk, Nebraska, later renamed Lynn and Sons. At the time of opening it was the largest grocery store in town. He retired from the grocery business in 1999. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Norfolk where he served as an elder and also on the pastor nominating committee. Lynn is survived by his daughter, Christine (John) Judt; sons, Jacob (Linda) Cox and Jeffrey Cox; grandson, Jason (Jenny) Judt; great-grandson, Jordan Judt; step-granddaughter, Brandy (Eric) Retzlaff; and step-grandchildren, Alex, Natalie, Cayden, and Grace. Inurnment was in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Norfolk, NE.
