Burial will be in Vandalia Cemetery in Vandalia. Mr. Bowers was born in Runnells and lived in Altoona most of his life before moving to Newton in 1982. Dennis R., stationed with the military in Hanau West Germany; two step-daughters, Carolyn Frederick of Mitchellville and Linda Buttrey of Pensacola, Fla.; two stepsons, Keith L. Battles of Agwan, Mass., and Stanley Battles of Mesa, Wa.; a brother, George of Des Moines; 27 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasantville Rescue Unit.
