He was born Feb. 20, 1927, in Wellsville, the son of the late Lloyd O. and Erma O. (Dennis) Swearingen, Sr. Buck graduated from Wellsville High School in 1945. "Buck" Swearingen, Jr., 82, of Wellsville, died Monday, April 6, 2009, at Hospice House in North Lima following a lengthy illness. He was born Feb. 20, 1927, in Wellsville, the son of the late Lloyd O. and Erma O. (Dennis) Swearingen, Sr. Buck graduated from Wellsville High School in 1945. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as an aerial reconnaissance photographer during World War II. Lloyd was a member of the Oak Ridge Presbyterian Church. He worked as a laborer for the former H. K. Porter brickyard. Buck loved sports and coached various baseball teams at different age groups as well as being an avid golfer. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Lloyd was preceded in death on July 18, 1997, by his wife Marilyn (Grindle) Swearingen whom he married April 18, 1951. Survivors include two daughters: Linda Swearingen and her husband Bill of Wellsville, Christine Polen and her husband Stephen of Boardman; one son: Alan Swearingen and his wife Cindy of Stevensville, Mich.; one sister: Vera Beech and her husband Albert "Skip" of Maitland, Fla. Also surviving are grandchildren: Brett Swearingen, Beth (Mike) Ward, Amanda Wallen, Keith (Rachael) Swearingen, Kelly Polen, Eric Polen; and great-grandchildren, Tate Wallen, Caleb Ward, Addison Rhodes, and Luke Swearingen. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Roberts Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce Ballantine of the Covenant Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will follow in Highlandtown Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main St., in Wellsville. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to ask that memorial donations be made to the National Parkinsons Disease Foundation at 1501 N.W. 9th Ave. Bob Hope Road, Miami, Fl. 33136-1494, or to Hospice House at 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, Ohio 44514.
