Description	:	OTTUMWA - Lloyd W. Phillips, 74, of 4764 Lake Road, went home to be with the Lord at 9:51 pm July 13, 2011, at Ottumea Regional Health Center after a seven-year battle with multiple myeloma. He was born Sept. 17, 1936, in Ottumwa to Harold and Elsie Eakins Phillips. He married Norma Dukes on June 6, 1959. He was born Sept. 17, 1936, in Ottumwa to Harold and Elsie Eakins Phillips. He married Norma Dukes on June 6, 1959. A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1954, he worked for 55 years in construction-homebuilding and remodeling. Lloyd enjoyed his work and took pride in the quality. He enjoyed his acreage and livestock and especially spending time with his family. He was a member of the Ottumwa Baptist Temple, where he taught Sunday school for over 40 years and served in various church offices. Surviving are his wife, Norma; four daughters, Lori Stephens of Sullivan, MO.; Shelly Biggs of Ottumwa; Amy Philips of Brooklyn, Iowa; and Peggy(Todd)Rankin of Palmer, Alaska; eight wonderful grandchildren , Jessie Biggs, Josh Stephens, Tes Jackson, Ryan Biggs, Tyler Jackson, Taylor Murray, Trista Jackson and Alex Murray; a sister, Gladys(Gary)Jones of Ottumwa; three brothers, Wayne Phillips of Omaha, Neb., Gerald(Marie)and Gary Phillips both of Ottumwa; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Alice Phillips. Funeral services will be 10 am Wednesday at the Ottumwa Baptist Temple with Pastor Randy Miller officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 am Tuesday at Reece funeral Home with the family present from 6:30-8:30 pm Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the family for his grandchildren's education.
