He was born on April 21, 1930, to Lloyd Sr. and Isabel Heinemann Bartholome in Britton, S.D. He was born on April 21, 1930, to Lloyd Sr. and Isabel Heinemann Bartholome in Britton, S.D. He married Gayle Wilmsen at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Hecla, S.D., and they celebrated their 49th anniversary this past June. Lloyd graduated from Hecla High School and Northern State Teachers College, Aberdeen, S.D. While teaching at Toll Junior High in Glendale, Calif., he received his master/s degree from California State College77Los Angeles. After receiving his doctorate from the University of California at Los Angeles, he joined the faculty at Utah State University/s Department of Business Education and Office Administration. He became a full professor in 1971 and in 1979 was named head of the department, now titled Business Information Systems and Education. He was on a sabbatical leave from USU at the time of his death. Bartholome received many awards. One of his earliest honors was the Smead Manufacturing (NBEA) Award as "Most Outstanding Student in Business Education" while a student at Northern State Teachers College. Professional honors he received include the WBEA Distinguished Service Award, Outstanding University Professor Award, the Utah State Office of Education PROUD Award, Delta Pi Epsilon Leadership Award, NABTE Distinguished Service Award, Utah Business Education Association "Action Research" award, and the very prestigious John Gregg Award 77 the highest national award for distinguished service in business education. He served as president of the National Business Education Association, National Association for Business Teacher Education, Western Business Information Technology Educators and the Utah Business Computer Education Association. Bartholome is the author of more than four dozen research and business-education publications and was in great demand as a lecturer, making more than 50 presentations nationwide. He has been an active member and leader at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Lloyd could be described as a "sports enthusiast" 77 as both a coach and player. He coached little league, middle league and Babe Ruth baseball teams in Glendale for many years and in Logan during the summer he coached junior high and high school-aged youth baseball teams and even supplied uniforms for the league. He also coached Logan/s championship American Legion Baseball team. At the age of 70, Lloyd was still playing softball. In his very busy schedule, he always had time for a round of golf with his many golfing friends. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Gayle of Logan; a son,Mike (Katie) of Oakland, N.J.; three daughters, Cindy Bartholome of Fort Collins, Colo., Merry Kay Taylor of Lakewood, Colo., and Sharon (Brent) Wunder of Morrison, Colo.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Janice Crook of La Mirada, Calif.; and one brother, Douglas of West Covina, Calif. He was preceded in death by his mother and father. A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, Aug. 23 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary Chapel, 34 E. Center St., Logan. A memorial celebration with Lloyd/s childhood friends and relatives is planned for Saturday, Aug. 30 in Hecla, S.D.
