He was born in Redwood, Jefferson County, N. Y. Oct 8, 1848, died at home in Greeley, Aug. 18, 1921, at the age of 72 years, 10 months and 10 days. He moved with his parents to Iowa when seven years of age, spending the remaining years of his life in Greeley and vicinity, excepting three years when he was in Sheridan, Montana. He was married to Alice Nelson in Greeley, Feb. 6, 1884 {not very clear, could have the date wrong}. Mr. Schneider was engaged in the dry goods and hardware business in Greeley for about 35 years and was found to be upright in all his dealings. He was a member of the following fraternal socieities: Blue Lodge chapter and consistory, also the Eastern Star chapter and Woodman lodge. He proved his fitness for the high honors of our town serving two terms as Mayor and being a member of the town council since the town was inorporated. Mr. Schneider leaves to mourn him the following relatives, his wife, two sons and two daughters, Harry E. Radcliff, Mrs. Josephine Sanders and Mrs. Edyth Luense, all of Greeley, besides one step-son, Charlie Nelson of Hopkinton, besides six grandchildren, one brother and four sisters, George Schneider of Eugene, Oregon; Mrs. Mary Howe, Greene, Iowa; Mrs. Josephine Peck of Strawberry Point; Mrs. Amelia Farwell and Mrs. Helen Sweet of Greeley besides a large group of other relatives. He was always active and efficient in every good work in our town and will be missed not only by his family but by his many friends. The sympathy of the people of this community is extended to the relatives. The funeral services were held from the M. E. church on Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. L. W. Soule, the services at the grave being in charge of the Masonic brothers who attended in a body. The floral offering was profuse. The following relatives from out-of-town were here to attend the funeral: Chas. Nelson and family of Hopkinton, Mr. and Mrs. King Howe and daughter of Green, Iowa; Mrs. Jospehine Peck and daughter of Strawberry Point; Mrs. M. L. Radcliff, of Sioux City, Mrs. Julia Freeman, of Earlville, Mr. and Mrs. H. Appleby and son of Hopkinton; Mr. and Mrs. Barlo Stephens, Mr. and Mrs. Gearhart, E. L. Farwell and L. B.
