It is our sad duty to write of the death of this little girl, although all have been expecting to hear of her death for weeks made it none the less hard to bear and all sympathies with the parents, brothers and sisters and other relatives who were so dear to her in the days now gone by. For several weeks Lois suffered with a gathering in her ear and head, her parents took her to a hospital in Winfield where she could receive the best of care—and for four long weeks she made a brave fight for recovery, during all these weeks of suffering she never complained. Lois Alice Boyer was born in Moline, Kans., April 29, 1900, moved to New Salem, Kans. with her parents about five years ago, died in Winfield, Kans., March 17, 1913, aged 12 years, 11 months and 12 days. The funeral was held March 19th at 2:30 o'clock from New Salem M???? church, interment in New Salem cemetery. Rev. S. M. Hunt conducting the services, taking for his text the 24th chapter of Matthew and the 44th verse, portraying a beautiful word picture of death, saying nature has its seasons but death has all seasons and life is happier, brighter and better than if we knew the time we were to die. The choir composed of Mesdames Gill, Clarke, Thirsk and Holloway and Frank Coffey sang, "I Know My Heavenly Father Knows," and "My Faith Looks up to Thee" and "Lead Me Gently Home," also duet "Shall ??? Shall I" by Mesdames Thirsk and Holloway, The lovely white casket ??? a bower of beautiful flowers. ??? ??? of white rose buds and ??? the letter "S" formed in-??? ???? with pink sweet peas was ??? a beautiful gift from the teachers and pupils of the school who attended the funeral in a body. Blanche Spencer, Ora Steward, Edith Hood, Elsie Baldwin, Pearl Franklin and Beatrice Anderson, former class mates, all dressed in white were the pall bearers. Short burial services were held at the grave which kind friends had lined with white and evergreen to receive the little form now gone from home but, "There in the Shepherd's bosom White as the drifed snow, Is the little girl we missed one morn From the household flock below."
