Visitation: Thursday, May 3, 2007 Service: Friday, May 4, 2007 Cemetery: Emerson Cemetery Lois Arlene Hossle, the daughter of Carl J. and Elva (Purcell) Carlson was born May 5, 1929 in Red Oak, Iowa. She died on Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 77 years, 11 months and 26 days. Lois was raised in the Red Oak area. In her younger years, she along with her family lived two years in California. They moved back to the Red Oak area, where Lois graduated from Red Oak High School in l946. Lois attended Mutual of Omaha Business School in Omaha, NE. After completing business school, she worked in the office at the Union Carbide Battery Company in Red Oak. Lois was united in marriage to Robert L. Hossle on December 31, 1949 in Red Oak. Lois and Robert have made their home and raised their family on the same farm near Emerson since their marriage. Lois was a member of the Hawthorne United Methodist Church. She served as an election worker for many years. Lois enjoyed using her hands to create needle works and crafts projects. She loved the outdoors and gardening and made "the best plum jelly". Her family was her treasure and most important part of her life. Lois was preceded in death by her parents and a gentleman who was like a brother to her, Donald Anderson. Lois is survived by her husband: Robert L. Hossle of Emerson, IA; their 6 children: Judy Krueger and husband Bob of Glenwood, IA; Linda Gambuto and husband John of Pahrump, NV; Joe Hossle and wife Jody of Emerson, IA; Mike Hossle and wife Jamie of Emerson, IA; Sandra Fleming and husband Cliff of Quail Valley, CA; Lori Jones and husband Donnie of Emerson, IA; 12 grandchildren: Brian Krueger, Scott Krueger and wife Jennifer; Melanie O'Connor and husband Kevin; Mandy Gambuto, Marla Gambuto, Justin Hossle, Jenni Hossle, Jamie Hossle, Nathan Hossle, Megan Hossle, Daniel Fleming and Jared Jones; 3 great-grandchildren: Maverick & Abbi Krueger and Cole McKinley; 4 brothers: Lynn Carlson and wife Marilyn of Green Valley, AZ; Glen Carlson and wife Frances of Red Oak, IA; Darl Carlson of Red Oak, IA and Dale Carlson and wife Carolyn of Red Oak, IA; brother-in-law: Max Hossle and wife Gwen of Red Oak, IA; sister-in-law: Mrs. Dorothy Porter of Essex, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
