Description	:	Lois A. Porter, 85, of Scribner died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at Scribner Good Samaritan Center. She was born on the family farm in Cuming County to William and Christina Wooldrik Naber. She was raised on the farm and graduated from Scribner High School in 1942. After high school she continued toward her teaching certificate at Midland College in Fremont. After completing her school work, she began teaching. She taught for five years in Cuming and Burt counties. She married Donald Porter on June 29, 1947. He preceded her in death in 2007. While helping her husband... Read More	Lois A. Porter, 85, of Scribner died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at Scribner Good Samaritan Center. She was born on the family farm in Cuming County to William and Christina Wooldrik Naber. She was raised on the farm and graduated from Scribner High School in 1942. After high school she continued toward her teaching certificate at Midland College in Fremont. After completing her school work, she began teaching. She taught for five years in Cuming and Burt counties. She married Donald Porter on June 29, 1947. He preceded her in death in 2007. While helping her husband farm, she also was very involved with her family and their church. At St. John Ridgeley Lutheran Church, she played the organ, directed the junior and senior choirs, taught Sunday school and Bible school and was part of most of the women's organizations in the church. She also was president of the Senior Women's Club of Scribner. Survivors include: four daughters, Kay Wagner of Sioux City, Iowa, Lynn Porter of Las Vegas, Faye (and husband, Kevin) Nelson of Omaha and Ann (and husband, Keith) Charling of Oakland; two sons, Leigh (and wife, Vickie) Porter of Lincoln and Thomas (and wife, Lee) Porter of Omaha; sister, Marilyn Porter of Scribner; sisters-in-law, Minerva Naber and Eula Marie Hingst, both of Scribner; 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
