Description	:	Lois E. (Bestor) Neuzil, 92, of Wood River, formerly of Grand Island, died Sunday, May 2, 2010, at Good Samaritan Center in Wood River. Lois was born May 16, 1917, in Plattsmouth to Frank and Frances (Hiber) Bestor. She married George Neuzil on June 3, 1941, in Plattsmouth. He preceded her in death in 2006. Lois was born May 16, 1917, in Plattsmouth to Frank and Frances (Hiber) Bestor. She married George Neuzil on June 3, 1941, in Plattsmouth. He preceded her in death in 2006. Survivors are: daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Bill Schofield of Shelton; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. John (Jack) and Mary Neuzil of Kent, Ohio; grandchildren, John, Joe, Alexis, Mary Beth, Jonathan, Becky and Tom; 10 great-grandchildren, Eben, Dylan, Lindsay, Noah, Hannah, Kasi, Heather, Nicholas, Jack and Molly; and great-great-granddaughter, Lainna; sisters-in-law, Lois Bestor of Redmond, Ore., Lorena Bestor of Kansas City, and Mary Lou Neuzil of Calmar, Iowa. Mrs. Neuzil was raised in Plattsmouth and graduated from Plattsmouth High School in 1934. She then attended the University of Nebraska where she received her Bachelors degree in Education in 1938. She was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa sorority. Following her education, she taught math at Hordville from 1938 -1942. Lois taught in Garnavilla, Iowa, Manly, Iowa, Belle Plaine, Iowa, Kinross Iowa, Melvin, Iowa and Hamburg, Iowa. The couple then moved to Elmwood, where George served as superintendent of schools. After her husbands retirement, they returned to Hamburg, before moving to Grand Island in 1994. Mrs. Neuzil was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, where she enjoyed singing in the parish choir, and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Lois also did volunteer work at the Grand Island Public Library, and for St. Francis Hospital, where she enjoyed crocheting many hats for the baby's born there. Lois enjoyed bowling and was a wonderful pie maker. She was also preceded in death by two infant sons, George Frederick Neuzil and Robert Joseph Neuzil; and two brothers, John Bestor and Robert Bestor.
