She was born April 21, 1924 in Cass County to William Louis and Eda (Hobbie) Dickman, of Nehawka. Lois was baptized at Bethel Evangelical Church in Nebraska City, on Oct. 20, 1924 and confirmed there. Lois married Ervin Arnold Schomerus on March 17, 1943, in Rock Port, Mo. She was born April 21, 1924 in Cass County to William Louis and Eda (Hobbie) Dickman, of Nehawka. Lois was baptized at Bethel Evangelical Church in Nebraska City, on Oct. 20, 1924 and confirmed there. Lois married Ervin Arnold Schomerus on March 17, 1943, in Rock Port, Mo. Lois lived on a farm near Nehawka and in Nebraska City and after her marriage to Ervin they lived on farms around Murray, Dunbar and Syracuse. Lois and Ervin moved to Syracuse in 1997, after Ervin suffered a stroke and for the next 9 years, and 9 months Lois devoted herself to taking care of Ervin at home. She is survived by children Shirley Wilson, of Unadilla, Wayne and Kathy Schomerus of Syracuse, Donna Royal, Waukesha, Wis., Kathy and Bill Royal, Lincoln, Lynn and Anita Schomerus, Unadilla, Keith and Linda Schomerus of Bennet, Gayle and Brenda Schomerus of Syracuse and Carla and Wayne Clymer of Dunbar; grandchildren and spouses: Terri and Steve Bubke, Julie Wilson, Michael and Jen Wilson, Angela and Jeff Vogt, Barbara and Clayton Johnson, Rebecca and Will Davis, Sally and Justin Miller, Chris Royal, Greg Royal, Lori and Jeff Schulz, Mark and Jody Royal, Nathan Royal, Nicole Michael Keslar, Jason Schomerus, Jamie and Jeff Draper, Lisa and Nate Dowding, Keri Schomerus, Kyle Schomerus, Alyssa Anthony, Ashley Anthony, Connor Schomerus, Kayla Clymer, Rachel Clymer; great-grandchildren: Jessie and Megan Bubke, Brianna and Brody Wilson, Andrew and Adam Vogt, Cameron and Logan Johnson, Brendon, Anastasia, Maddox and Gianna Davis, Emma Lanik, Tyleigh and Jackson Miller, Tiffany, Jacob, Caitlyn and Nicholaus Royal, Jordon Royal, Sierra Ihde, Karson and Karter Jeffrey, Finley Draper, and Hailey Dowding; and brother-inlaw Don Schomerus of Nebraska City. She preceded in death by husband Ervin, parents Lois and Eda (Hobbie) Dickman, granddaughter Cynthia Wilson Hawkins, infant granddaughter Jody Royal, infant grandson Aaron Royal, and sons-inlaw Robert Wilson and Donald Royal. Funeral services will be March 8 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ, Syracuse, with burial at Park Hill Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family's choice. Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral Home, Syracuse, is in charge or arrangements.
