Description	:	Lois Eva Smith was born November 28, 1909, to Thad and Eva (Birks) Smith near Woodbine, Iowa in Brush Hollow. She grew up in the Woodbine area and attended the Woodbine school. On February 12, 1930, she married Ralph Woodward, and the couple made their home in Pisgah, Iowa. Read More	Lois Eva Smith was born November 28, 1909, to Thad and Eva (Birks) Smith near Woodbine, Iowa in Brush Hollow. She grew up in the Woodbine area and attended the Woodbine school. On February 12, 1930, she married Ralph Woodward, and the couple made their home in Pisgah, Iowa. Lois held a variety of jobs including helping families when a new baby arrived or when there was a sickness. She also graded seed corn for the Glenn King family, worked at the two cafés in Pisgah, and the Siebels Grocery Store. Ralph sold ACCO Seed Corn, and after he passed away, Lois continued with this business. Lois was a longtime member of the Pisgah United Methodist Church. She was always active in the church in whatever way she could be. She was the historian for the United Methodist Women for many years. She loved helping with the church dinners and the youth group when Pat was a member. She was also a member of the Ladies Neighborhood Club also known as the Help One Another Club. This club raised money and constructed the gates to the Soldier Valley Cemetery – which are still in use today. Lois was a very helpful person. She liked to bake a tasty treat, make homemade raspberry jelly, or bring flowers from her garden to anyone who needed a lift. Lois particularly enjoyed her family. She was truly a Proverbs 31:10 – 28 kind of woman. Lois died February 20, 2004, at Longview Care Center in Missouri Valley, Iowa at the age of 94 years, two months, and 23 days. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and grandson Terry Armstrong. She is survived by her daughter Pat and her husband Larry Armstrong of Mondamin, Iowa; two grandchildren – Laurie and her husband Dan Gibson of Logan, Iowa, Monty Armstrong of Pisgah, Iowa; six great grandchildren; sister Donna and her husband Loyle Lasuer of Bentonville, Arkansas; and many other family and friends.
