Lois Harriet Bremer was born to John George and Elsie Wilhelmine (Voegler) Bremer on November 27, 1914 at their farm home ten miles south of Ord, Nebraska. Lois was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church just two miles from their farm home. She attended country school for her first ten grades and then two years at Ord High School; graduating in the class of 1934. She spent several summers attending Kearney State Teacher's College; training for her four and one-half years of teaching country school. Lois and Herman Micheel were married on March 23, 1941 at St. John's Lutheran Church near Ord, Nebraska. They lived on the Micheel family farm northwest of White, South Dakota, until 1978 when they moved to Bridle Estates south of Brookings. After Herman entered a nursing home, Lois moved to a condominium located on Christine Avenue. Since November of 2009, she has been in assisted living at StoneyBrook Suites in Brookings. Lois and Herman were members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Argo Township until it closed. They became faithful members of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Brookings when the Argo church closed. She taught Sunday School for many years at St. Paul's and still read the Christmas Story each year at Our Savior. In addition to church activities, she was a fifty-year member of the Mystery Sisters extension club and enjoyed visiting with family and friends. Cooking, baking, and gardening were also favorite activities. She is survived by her two sons, John Micheel and his wife Connie of New Ulm, Minnesota, Allen and his wife Karen of Appleton, Wisconsin; three daughters, Marlene Wendler and her husband David of Courtland, Minnesota, Eunice Randall and her husband Steve of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Jeanine Miller and her husband Bill of Albuquerque, New Mexico; fourteen grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman on March 4, 2000; five brothers, James, George, William, Franklin and John Jr., who died in infancy; two sisters, Ava Micheel and Frances Friedrich. The family thanks the staff at StoneyBrook Suites, her church family, and the staff at Brookings Hospital for their care and support.
