Lois Hilda Wilke was born Aug. 2, 1937, the daughter of William and Hilda (Hollman) Osterthun. She was baptized Oct. 1, 1937, at St. Paul Lutheran, Leigh, and was confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Creston. She graduated from Creston High School. Lois studied at Midland College and the University of Nebraska School of Nursing in Omaha. She received her bachelor of science degree in nursing. Lois Hilda Wilke was born Aug. 2, 1937, the daughter of William and Hilda (Hollman) Osterthun. She was baptized Oct. 1, 1937, at St. Paul Lutheran, Leigh, and was confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Creston. She graduated from Creston High School. Lois studied at Midland College and the University of Nebraska School of Nursing in Omaha. She received her bachelor of science degree in nursing. She began working at the old Lutheran Hospital in 1959. Lois married Ray S. Wilke on Dec. 28, 1960, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Creston. They lived in Brookings, S.D., while Ray finished his schooling. They then moved to the farm north of Norfolk in 1961, and Lois returned to work at the Lutheran Hospital. In 1966 they moved to Springfield, Ill., while Ray attended Concordia Seminary. While in Springfield, Lois worked as a nurse at the Springfield hospital. They spent a year on vicarage in Detroit. Lois, Ray and their children then moved to the Philippines in January 1971, where they served as evangelical missionaries with emphasis on human care and agriculture. They returned to Norfolk in April of 1977. She returned to her nursing career at Lutheran Hospital and currently was working as a nursing supervisor. Lois is survived by her husband, Rev. Ray S. Wilke of Norfolk; three children and their spouses, Tori and Michael Sullivan and children Gabriel Sullivan and Kevin Sullivan of Norfolk, Ray II and Sue Wilke and children Alyson Wilke, Hanna Wilke and Kylea Wilke of Norfolk and Kamryn and Daniel Green and children Isaiah Green, Phelan Green, Anna Green and Benjamin Green of North Pole, Alaska; two sisters, Elna Luetdke and her husband, Dale of Columbus, Edna Muhle of Creston; brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-law, Kent and Carol Wilke of Wayne, Don and Wendy Crist of Colorado Springs, Colo., Tom and Cathy Wilke of Norfolk; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law Raymond and Barbara Wilke, brother-in-law Earl Muhle and brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Joan Wisenstine.
