Description	:	Lois Joanne Bortvit was born in Graettinger, Iowa on Dec. 19, 1935 to Bernard and Mable (Robinson) Bortvit. Lois was the third eldest of eight siblings. She grew up in Graettinger, North Superior and Estherville and graduated from high school in Westport, South Dakota. Lois was united in marriage to Clarence Olson on Dec. 19, 1958 at the State Line Lutheran Church, Petersburg, Minnesota. They were blessed with 47 years of marriage and four children. Read More	Lois Joanne Bortvit was born in Graettinger, Iowa on Dec. 19, 1935 to Bernard and Mable (Robinson) Bortvit. Lois was the third eldest of eight siblings. She grew up in Graettinger, North Superior and Estherville and graduated from high school in Westport, South Dakota. Lois was united in marriage to Clarence Olson on Dec. 19, 1958 at the State Line Lutheran Church, Petersburg, Minnesota. They were blessed with 47 years of marriage and four children. The couple lived in Estherville, Iowa and moved to Sioux Falls in 1964. While living in Sioux Falls, Lois provided daycare, worked at Bob’s Cafe and Stewarts. In 1972 she enrolled in Stewarts School of Hairstyling and also bought a salon in Lennox. She owned and operated the Classic Salon until her semi-retirement in 1993. It was the salon that brought her many wonderful friends and memories. She and Clarence then moved to Palm Springs, California to enjoy the warm weather. They owned and operated their own second hand furniture store and Lois worked at J.C. Penny. They continued to winter in the Palm Springs area and Yuma, Arizona until her passing. Lois was a member of First English Lutheran Church and a 33 year member of the Lennox American Legion Auxiliary. She will forever be remembered for her cooking, crafts, conversation and “hairdo’s”. She was especially devoted to her children and grandchildren. Besides her parents, Lois was preceded in death by four siblings: Barbara, Norma, Bennie (Bernard), John and one grandchild, Jessica Lynn Olson. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Clarence, five children: Pam Brunner, Emporia, KS, Linda Elhassy, Sioux Falls, David (Kristi) Olson, Lennox, Danny (Becky) Olson, Tea and Lorie Buus of Sioux Falls; 11 grandchildren: B.J., Siraj, Boejila, Amir, Lindsay, Stacy, Derrick, Brandon, Kasey, Brandy and Ashley; great-granddaughter, Kaylee Joanne; three brothers: Darryl, Tom and Larry as well as other relatives and friends.
