Description	:	Lois Louise Raida was born October 10, 1928 in rural Belmont, Kansas to Harry and Sadie (Clough) Dunkelberger. With her mom passing away when she was only 7 and her 3 siblings dying as infants, it was just Lois and her dad. The two of them took care of the farm. Read More	Lois Louise Raida was born October 10, 1928 in rural Belmont, Kansas to Harry and Sadie (Clough) Dunkelberger. With her mom passing away when she was only 7 and her 3 siblings dying as infants, it was just Lois and her dad. The two of them took care of the farm. She enjoyed these responsibilities as well as riding horses. After graduating from Adams High School, Lois attended a year of college at Emporia State. Lois married Joseph F. Raida in 1947 in Kingman, Kansas. They made their home on the farm in Kingman County while raising their beloved son, Merle. The family moved to Harper and they were blessed with a daughter, Jodi. Lois always enjoyed helping with her children's various activities and school functions. Joseph passed away on April 8, 2003. Later, Glenn "Dutch" Nicholas became a special person in her life, where she enjoyed many years of helping him with his trucking company, until he passed away on June 28, 2007. Lois worked as an administrative assistant at Farm Bureau Insurance for 5 years and then part time for another agent. She also spent a lot of years doing in home care for elderly individuals in Harper and Anthony and this was always very memorable and rewarding to her. Lois belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star and the Harper United Methodist Church, where she was active in women's study groups, enjoyed teaching Sunday school as needed, and loved her church family. She always enjoyed all the many friends she made throughout Harper and Kingman counties. Joining homes with her daughter and family, Jodi cared for her for many years. Lois enjoyed this time with Jodi, her husband, and her grandchildren. Helping raise her grandchildren was a huge part of her life before her health started failing. Lois passed away at her home in Haysville on March 24, 2016 at the age of 87 years, 6 months, and 14 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph; and her son, Merle Lee Raida on January 10, 2012. A beloved Friend, Mother, and Grandmother, Lois will be deeply missed by her daughter: Jodi Metcalfe and husband, John of Haysville; her grandchildren: T.J., Taden, Joely, and Jenna Metcalfe, Will Raida, Jessie Razi, and Cheyenne Raida; 2 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Visitation is from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Graveside Service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at the Harper Cemetery with Chaplin Francis Rathbun and Pastor Mike O'Donnell officiating. Memorials may be made in memory of Lois to the Harper United Methodist Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Prairie Rose Funeral Homes, 613 W. 14th ~ Harper, Kansas 67058 is in charge of arrangements.
