Lois Mae Long was born on September 18, 1912 in Marshall County, Iowa, the daughter of John Arthur and Minnie Pearl Mishler Koehler. She was raised on the Koehler farm south of Conrad and attended and graduated from the Conrad schools. On November 3, 1933, she was united in marriage to Marion Cecil Long at Nashua, Iowa. They began farming on the Keefer farm south of Conrad and in 1940 moved to the Trousdale farm west of Grundy Center where they lived for thirty-one years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Conrad Lois is survived by her two daughters: Donna (Nick) Hickman-Federspiel of Cedar Falls, and Bev (Dennis) Graves of Reinbeck, two sisters: Wilma Rolston of Burnsville, MN; and Marilyn Watson of Half Moon Bay, CA; a sister-in-law Hazel Koehler of Conrad; eleven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1971, two sons: Darrell and Gerry, three sisters and two brothers.
