Description	:	Services were held Tuesday, Feb. 16 at the Dindot-Klusmann Chapel for Lois Poppenga, 78, who died Friday morning, Feb. 12, 2010 at the Lennox Good Samaritan Center following a battle with cancer. Officiating during the service was the Rev. Dr. Harlan Hayunga. Pallbearers were Jody Poppenga, Jeff Poppenga, Randy Postma, Rick Postma, Wayne Davey, and Curt Davey. Interment was in the Lennox Cemetery. Lois Margaret Curtis was born on October 23, 1931 at Hurley, SD, the daughter of Clarence and Mary (Lee) Curtis. She grew up in Hurley and attended Hurley Public School. On December 30, 1948 she was married to Benjamin Poppenga. They moved to Lennox in 1949 where they lived the remainder of their marriedlife. Her husband died on March 8, 1965. Lois continued to live in Lennox since that time Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Osbom, on Sept. 21, 1979. Grateful for having shared her life are her eight children: Margaret Ann (Robert) Burns of Cedar Rapids, IA, Robert Poppenga, James Poppenga, Edward Poppenga, Verna (Vince) Crouch and Greg "Jackson" Poppenga, all of Lennox, Bruce (Cheryl Tebben) Poppenga of Sioux Falls and Vicki (James) Wassom of Hartford; 20 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters: Ruth Davey of Hurley and Lucille Frislie of Bryant; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in law: Wilfred (Carol) Poppenga of Lennox, Delores Nothdurft, Fran (Ed) Postma, Bonnie Poppenga and VaLoy Poppenga, all of Sioux Falls; plus several nieces and nephews.
