Saturday Is Shock to Community Funeral Held Tuesday Lois Marie Tyler, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Tyler, who reside about 18 miles west of Creighton, was killed at 5:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon, when the 1930 Chevrolet coupe driven by her brother, Harold, 21, overturned on the oiled road a mile west of here. Miss Frances Moser, also in the car, received minor lacerations and bruises. Tyler was uninjured. According to statements given by Cpl. H. J. Bet and Patrolman, Ray Shorney of the state highway patrol, the Tyler car was being driven westward at about 30 miles per hour, when a car driven by Joe Mach Sr. of Verdigre, which also contained Mach's young son, Joe Jr. and Louis Pageler of Winnetoon, overtook it and honked for the right of way. Young Tyler swerved from the center of the road, to the right, hit the soft earthen shoulder and before he could regain control of the machine it hit an upright iron pipe at the west end of a concrete culvert in front of the Joe Wenge place. The car careened to the center of the highway, the left front striking the right rear fender of the Mach machine, Cpl. Bet believes, as it went past. The Tyler car turned on the right side and apparently Miss Tyler, riding on the outside fell through the partial open door and was pinned beneath the car. Death was attributed to fracture of the skull and apparently was instantaneous. As their car passed young Mach looked back, he said, saw the Tyler car overturn, told his father and they stopped and returned to the scene, helped raise the car and bring the injured girl to Creighton. She was pronounced dead by Dr. W.E. Wright upon arrival at the office. After the accident and marking the spot lay a pile of varicolored candy Easter eggs in a pool of blood, more evidence of the happiness that tragedy overcame. The candy was intended as an Easter treat for the pupils of her school. She had neglected, she earlier told friends, to treat them at Christmas time, so intended to do so before Easter. Miss Tyler was a graduate of Creighton High School with the class of 1943 and since beginning of the present school year had been teaching at Mars school, District 28, west of Creighton, from which she graduated before attending high school. A lifelong resident of this vicinity, she was born August 31, 1926 and was 17 years, 6 months and 24 days of age at the time of death. She leaves to mourn her sudden passing besides her father and mother, one brother, Harold,of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Muriel Raff, Venus and Mrs. Vern Dredge, McLean, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Finke, Creighton, grandmother, Mrs. Rose Tyler, Verdigre, two nephews, Clifford Dredge and Larry Raff and many other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at Creighton Methodist Church with the pastor, Rev. Burt Tappana officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.
