Description	:	Lois Oliver, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Oliver, was born January 8, 1908, on the homestead of her grandfather, Bruce Oliver. Here her parents resided since the grandparents retired from the farm. At the age of fourteen she moved with her parents to their present home four miles west of Canton. Because of the distance from school Lois did not enter school until eight years of age. Here she showed unusual ability and was content only with her work well done. Read More	Lois Oliver, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Oliver, was born January 8, 1908, on the homestead of her grandfather, Bruce Oliver. Here her parents resided since the grandparents retired from the farm. At the age of fourteen she moved with her parents to their present home four miles west of Canton. Because of the distance from school Lois did not enter school until eight years of age. Here she showed unusual ability and was content only with her work well done. She finished her rural education with credit in eight years, through suffering an attack of pneumonia which kept her from school a part of her last year. She entered the Canton high school the following term, displaying the same ability evinced in her rural work and ranking among the first in her class. She graduated with this class in 1927, holding fourth place though kept from school the first four months of her senior year by another attack of pneumonia. Last September she entered Yankton College, but after being there for eight weeks was compelled to return home where for two months she suffered a complication of diseases, in which she had the care of a trained nurse and the best of medical skill. All that loving hands and tender care could offer was done, and in the early morning of her twentieth birthday she passed peacefully away surrounded by those she loved. The death of Lois has cast a shadow of sorrow over a community in which she will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her. She leaves to mourn her departure, her father and mother, two sisters, Opal and Florence, and many relatives.
