A native of Nola, Va., she had resided in Elizabethton since 1933. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Madola Akers Gilley. Mrs. Harr was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Harr, in 1988, a half-sister, Margaret Gilley, and a half-brother, Dewey Gilley. Mrs. Harr had been a sales clerk at the S.H. Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, in the Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be J.C. Harr, Wayne Harr, Mike Slagle, Doug Stanley, Calvin Hyder, Bobby Queen and Virgil Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed "Red" Haney, Wayne Smith, Stuart Rominger, Sonny Slagle, Gary Slagle, Tom Hilton, Tony Bowers and Joe Lewis. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 6-7 P.M. on Sunday or at the residence, 288 Old Watauga Road, Elizabethton, Tenn., at any time.
