Roberts OBITUARY THE CHARITON HERALD-PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, January 30, 1969 BOYLAN - Lola Nine, only child of James C. and Minnie Roberts Nine, was born in Warren County, Iowa on October 25, 1894 and passed away at Osceola, on January 16, 1969, at the age of 74 years, two months and 22 days. Her father passed away when she was 17 months old after which she and her mother made their home with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Roberts, also of Warren County. In 1899, they moved to a farm near Chariton, spending the rest of her life in the immediate area, or in Chariton. After her mother's marriage to Daniel Chappell, they lived on a farm near Oakley for several years. In 1922, the family home was established on North Grand Street in Chariton. On September 10, 1924, she was united in marriage to Gerald Boylan. In early girlhood, she became a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church near Oakley. For the past five years, she and her husband have been faithful members of the Chariton Church of the Nazarene, where they were regular attendents as long as health permitted. She was preceded in death by her mother, for whom she gave loving care during an extended illness and by her step-father, Daniel Chappell. Those left to mourn her passing are her husband, Gerald O. Boylan; one half-brother, Freeman Chappell; one step-sister, Zella Ashby, as well as several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. C. E. Stanley, assisted by the Rev. Homer L. Max at 1:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 20, 1969, at the Church of the Nazarene. Interment was in the Fletcher Cemetery.
