Rhea will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23rd. at the Arlington Community Church. Mrs. Rhea died Sunday, April 20, 1986 at her home east of Arlington, Nebraska. “She graced our world with a flair for style and a touch of class. With an artists’ eye she saw beauty everywhere and translated the countryside onto canvas to share with those she loved. Her laughter was infectious, her smile and warmth brought life into a room. She was a woman of conviction and stood up for what she believed. That is how the many friends and loved ones of Lola B. Rhea will remember her. Mrs. Rhea died of cancer on April 20, 1986, surrounded by the love of so many people who were deeply touched by her presence on this earth.” Mrs. Rhea was active in Republican affairs and served on many committees. She was named “Outstanding Republican Woman” in the State of NE in 1984. She organized Wash. Co. Republican Women’s group and served as president for four years. She was a member of the Arlington Community Church, where she held many offices and served on many committees. She served on the Advisory Board for Home Health Care in Wash. Co., was a member of Sarepta Chapter 48 Order of Eastern Star in Arlington, and served as its Worthy Matron in 1951, as well as other offices. Mrs. Rhea was a member of Sat-Ra Temple, Daughters of the Nile in Fremont. She served on “Friends of the Arlington Library” Board, was treasurer, and helped with planning and building of the new library. She was a 4-H Club Leader and Den Mother of Cub Scouts. Lola was the daughter of Elwood and Helen (Arkell) Redding and was born in Tekamah, NE. She graduated from Arlington High School and Van Sant School of Business in Omaha. On March 2, 1940, she was married to Howard Rhea in Omaha. Mr. Rhea passed away on April 4, 1984. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, William and Kathy Rhea of Arlington; daughters and son-in-law, Ruth Ann and Steven Bluma of Duncan, OK, and Marty Rhea and Al Dohner of Salt Lake City, UT; and seven grandchildren. The Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements with Rev. Robert Saunders officiating. Memorials may be given to the Arlington Library or the American Cancer Society. Burial is in the Arlington Cemetery. Pallbearers are: Dr. Lou Otto, Dr. Lauren Spangler, Dr. Jack Cady, Bob Monke, Ray Pfeiffer, Chet House and Bud Gaines. Honorary pallbearers are: Larry Chandler, Gary Radil, Ira Couch, Gilbert Pike, Orie LeaVell, Bill Wagner, Wayne Pittman and the Honorable Hal Daub.
