Read More	Lola Maxine Dodson-Selby-Teater February 8, 1944 - January 12, 2020 Obituary for Lola Maxine Dodson-Selby-Teater Lola Maxine Dodson-Selby-Teater, 75, passed away at her home on January 12th, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Tyler and Lola Scholarship Fund for Occupational Therapists. Clarence and Bernice Montgomery-Dodson knew that they were having a baby on February 8, 1944. A baby boy was born and the doctor was ready to go home. Much to everyone’s surprise, Lola Maxine was born fifteen minutes later. She grew up on the family farm with her two big sisters, Pat and Ann, and her twin, Lyle. She enjoyed sharing memories of her childhood. One of her favorites to share was how she was the official crier at every funeral of any creature that died on the farm. Growing up, she attended Bethel Township country school before graduating from Cambria-Corydon High School in 1962. Lola married her high school sweetheart, Eudean Selby on May 6, 1967 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They were blessed with four children and raised them in Harlan, Iowa. She spent most of her life caring for others, and it brought her great joy. She started working as a candy striper in high school before becoming a nurse’s aide. Among other jobs, she worked at Concerned Inc., helping those with special needs. She also worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Thomas Ludwig in Harlan. Her children will tell you that their favorite job of hers was working for Goodrich Dairy, as that meant free ice cream for them. She and Eudean later moved back to Corydon to his family farm. She had a soft spot for four-legged critters. She loved her goat, Millie, and their granddaughter’s rather cantankerous ram, Bill. She especially loved her cow, Wilbur, who sometimes thought he was a dog. She cried when Wilbur was sold and moved just one mile down the road. She and Eudean spent thirty-five wonderful years together before his passing in 2002. On April 3, 2004, Lola married Don Teater at the Coal Ridge Church in Pella. Together, they worked and played at the RV Park at Lake Red Rock. They especially enjoyed traveling, wintering three years together in Arizona. They both shared a deep love of ice cream and anything sweet. As Lola became ill, Don would bring her two pieces of chocolate every night before bed. The evidence would appear in the morning as she generally fell asleep before consuming both pieces. Family was the most important part of Lola’s life. She cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by so many. Lola is survived by her husband, Don Teater; children: Trish (Erin Pearcy) Garrison, Brian (Bonnie) Selby, Shanda (Joe) Ring, and Kara Armell; grandchildren: Kasey, Ethan (Kiley), Matthew, Cheyenne, Nathan, Taylor (Clint), Tanner, Skyler, Nicholas (Kenedy), Noah, and Makenna; great grandchildren: Liam, Emma, Will, Karver, and Korbyn; sister, Ann (Gary) Mundel; twin brother, Lyle (Mary Lou) Dodson; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Nancy (Larry) Niday and Warren (Karen) Teater. Lola was preceded in death by her husband, Eudean Selby; parents, Clarence and Bernice Dodson; sister, Pat Knoke; and sisters-in-law, Charlene Wright and Tamara Dodson.
