Description	:	Loless "Walt" Phelps Walters, 80, of Madison, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at King's Daughters' Hospital. He was born Sept. 17, 1930, in Richmond, Ky., the son of Henry and Mary Emmaline Davis Walters. He was raised in Trimble County, Ky., and attended school there. He served in the Marine Corps from Aug. 6, 1951, to Aug. 6, 1953, during the Korean War. Read More	Loless "Walt" Phelps Walters, 80, of Madison, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at King's Daughters' Hospital. He was born Sept. 17, 1930, in Richmond, Ky., the son of Henry and Mary Emmaline Davis Walters. He was raised in Trimble County, Ky., and attended school there. He served in the Marine Corps from Aug. 6, 1951, to Aug. 6, 1953, during the Korean War. He moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and began a career with Quaker Oats Co., retiring in 1985 as a packaging supervisor after 35 years of service. He moved to Madison in 2001. He was a member of Hebron Baptist Church and Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion. He enjoyed running the campgrounds for the Regatta, mowing, working on the lawn and tinkering with cars. He is survived by his wife, Helen Jean Crag Facemire Walters, whom he married Sept. 6, 2003; two step daughters, Karen Pyles of Madison and Donna Stemler of Bedford; one step son, Steve Facemire of Madison; four sisters, Delora McCoy of Milton, Ky., Minnie Burton and Betty Craig, both of Bedford, Ky., and Edith Rae Dixon of Madison; four step grandchildren; a nephew whom he helped raise, Ryan Hajek of Solon, Iowa; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his first wife, LaVone Cooling Walters, whom he married Jan. 1, 1950, and who died July 6, 2000; his parents; three sisters, Alice Helton, Bertha Masters and Nancy McCoy; and four brothers, Dan Walters, Floyd Walters, Bill Walters and John Henry Walters. The funeral was at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. A second service was at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home, 1209 Iowa Ave. West, Marshalltown, Iowa. Burial was in Clemons Cemetery in Clemons, Iowa. A military salute was conducted at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre by Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion. Military honors were conducted graveside by the Marshalltown, Iowa, Post of the American Legion. Madison Courier 7/21/11
