Loleta Dorothea Hand was born July 9, 1920 in Utica, Nebraska, the daughter of Fred M. and Mathilda (Bertram) Rohren and passed away in Seward, Nebraska on November 3, 2014 at the age of 94 years, 3 months, and 25 days. Loleta Dorothea Hand was born July 9, 1920 in Utica, Nebraska, the daughter of Fred M. and Mathilda (Bertram) Rohren and passed away in Seward, Nebraska on November 3, 2014 at the age of 94 years, 3 months, and 25 days. Loleta was baptized on July 25, 1920 and confirmed on May 13, 1934, both at Zion Lutheran Church-Marysville. Loleta attended Marysville Lutheran School for eight years, Rosemond School and was a 1940 graduate of Seward High School. On September 15, 1945, Loleta was united in marriage to Arch Hand, Jr. in Seward, Nebraska. Their marriage was blessed with one daughter, Beth Louise. Following their marriage, Loleta was emp0loyed as the bookkeeper with Consumers Public Power District in Seward and after Beth was born, Loleta was a homemaker and mother. Loleta and Arch were the owners of H & B Western Shop in Seward from 1973 to 1987. Loleta was also employed at Fabric Fair as the bookkeeper and was an accomplished seamstress. Loleta was an active member of the Seward Chamber of Commerce and served as Chairperson of the Ambassadors of the Seward Chamber for 15 years. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid. Loleta was also a member of Memorial Health Care Systems Auxiliary , the Seward Planning Commission and the “Knittin’ Kitten” knitters group. Loleta is preceded in death by her husband, Arch Hand, Jr., in 1988; her parents, Fred and Mathilda Rohren; her sisters and brothers, Walter “Mike” Rohren, Lenora Brinkmeyer, Velma Gaylord, Erma Rohren, Leonard Rohren, Edward “Eddie” Rohren; and nephews, Verle Rohren and Bob Gaylord. Survivors cherishing Loleta’s memory include her daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Robert “Pete” Peterson, Seward; grandchildren and spouses, Fred and Kristy Peterson, Seward, Tom Peterson, Kearney, April and Trent Bartels, Seward; great grandchildren, Alaina and Ryer Bartels; sister-in-law, Laverne Rohren, Seward; nieces and nephews; close friend, Pat Dickinson, Seward and a host of special caregivers and friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Loleta.
