Fox, died Thursday afternoon, June 16, at one-thirty o’clock at her home after a brief illness of pneumonia and complications. Read More	Highland Recorder June 24, 1938 Mrs. Lona Smith Fox, wife of Dr. Charles B. Fox, died Thursday afternoon, June 16, at one-thirty o’clock at her home after a brief illness of pneumonia and complications. Born October 8, 1886, she was fifty-one years of age at the time of her passing. A daughter of the late Paulser C. Smith and Mrs. Caddie Bowers Smith, she was born and reared in Pendleton county, W. Va., on Friend’s Run, near Franklin. She was married July 18, 1905 to Dr. Fox one of the leading practitioners of this county; and to this union four children were born, one son dying in infancy. Two sons, Robert and Chas. B. Jr., and one daughter, Miss Hilda Fox, survive, as does her husband. Also surviving are three sisters and one brother, Mrs. Estie Davis, Washington; Mrs. Clifford Ralston, Talmadge, Oh.; Mrs. E. A. Rimel, Huntington Beach, Calif., and R. C. Smith, Harrisonburg. Perhaps no one could call as many people “friend” as did Mrs. Fox; her cheerful, happy disposition drew every one to her, especially young, people and children. She always took an interest in her husband’s professional work and in this way came to know nearly every one in the county who claimed her as their good friend. She will be missed in the church and its various activities and in the Woman’s Missionary Society, where she served loyally and faithfully. Funeral services were held 11 o’clock Sunday morning at the Monterey Methodist Church, of which she had long been a member, by her pastor, Rev. John H. Light, assisted by Rev. A. E. Johnson, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, in the presence of a large assemblage of friends. Mr. Light in a memorial paid beautiful tribute to Mrs. Fox as a wife, mother and friend. Interment took place in the family plot in the Monterey cemetery, where the many beautiful flowers bore testimony of the beautiful life so much loved and appreciated by her friends.
