(Gene) Kramer, a well known and life-long resident of Dyersville, occurred at the Dyersville Community Hospital, Dyersville, Iowa, at 6:03 pm Sunday, August 29, 1971. He was 64 years old. Gene Kramer was born at Dyersville, Iowa, on March 15, 1907, the son of the late Herman C. and Wilhelmina Steffen Kramer. He was a graduate of Xavier High School, a graduate of Hohenshuh Carpenter College of Embalming at St. Louis, Missouri. He was associated with the Lippert Funeral Home from 1932 until 1940, when he became owner and operator of the Kramer Funeral Home. He married Lanette Lippert on June 16, 1936, at Dyersville, and spent the remainder of his life in his chosen field of work. He was a member of the National Funeral Directors Association; the Iowa Funeral Directors and Embalmers Association, the Northeast Iowa Directors Association, a member of the Dyersville Commercial Club and a past board member of the Dyersville Commercial Club and a retired 20 year member of the Volunteer Firemen. Surviving are his widow, Lanette; three daughters, Mrs. Daniel (Karol) Hoffmann and Miss Debra Kramer, both of Dyersville, Mrs. Loras (Mary Ellen) Prier of Holy Cross, and one son, David Kramer of Dyersville. There are seven grandchildren. Other survivors are two sisters, Sister Ann Clare OSF of Mt. St. Francis, Dubuque, Mrs. Gilbert (Leona) Rubly of Seward, Illinois; three brothers, Edwin J. Kramer of Northbrook, Illinois, Ambrose Kramer of Dyersville and Norman Kramer of Florrisant, Missouri. Services for Mr. Kramer will be Thursday, September 2, with the cortege leaving the Kramer Funeral Home at 10:30 to St. Francis Xavier Basilica, where the concelebrated funeral mass will be offered. Burial will be today in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery at Dyersville. The family requests memorials be made to the Dyersville Community Hospital. The Parish Rosary was recited at at 8 pm on Wednesday evening at the Kramer Funeral Home. ------------------------------------------------------------ Gene Kramer To Be Laid To Rest Here This Morning Hundreds of friends waited in line Tuesday and Wednesday evenings to pay their last respects to L.F. "Gene" Kramer, life long resident here and funeral director for 39 years. Mr. Kramer died last Sunday evening at 6:03 pm in the Dyersville Community Hospital following a lingering illness. The funeral will be held this morning (Thursday, September 2nd) from the Kramer Funeral Home to St. Francis Basilica, where services will be at 10:30 am. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Gene Kramer was a very active businessman in the Dyersville community. He was a long time member and director of the Dyersville Commercial Club, a 20 year veteran of the Dyersville Volunteer Fire Department. He was active and a member of the National Funeral Directors Association, the Iowa Funeral Directors and the Northeast Iowa Funeral Directors Association. Mr. Kramer is survived by his widow, Lanette, three daughters, one son, two sisters and three brothers.
