She was a general favorite among all, and was seldom called by her real name, but in some endearing terms as "Mama's Little Angle," "Daddy's (missing text) was a general favorite among all, (more missing text) itism was due to no voluntary partiality, but her perfect tiny form and winnings ways drew people to her. The day of the fatal accident, the fire was extinguished before it had gotten much headway, the garments being only partially burned and her hair slightly singed. The injury, apparently surface, covered less than one-fourth of her body, and at the outset was recognized as being painful, but was not thought to be fatal. First aid was quickly rendered, and though grievous to her parents, the accident was not regarded as serious, and her complete recovery was anticipated at an early date. In the afternoon of the second day, internal complications set in with rapid development which alarmed the parents and outside help was summoned. Just before the arrival of a Colville doctor, she has one convulsion and at this physician's request she was rushed to the hospital. Except for one short period, she was conscious to the end, being able to answer questions correctly. At 12 o'clock in the evening of the day she was removed to the hospital, her spirit released the bond of the suffering body and took its flight to the better world. The ray of sunshine which she brought to her home that was of such short duration has been shut out by a pall of gloom, but beyond this obstruction, is is enabled to shine with a more brilliant hue. Te Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. While the ones left behind are now the only sufferers thee is a hope of meeting her beyond this vale of tears, freed from sin and worthy of her presence. The surviving members of the family besides Mr. and Mrs. Slagel, are Senora the eldest sister, and Robert the only brother, and Lucile the remaining twin. The funeral was held at the Baptist church Sunday at two o'clock. Rev. E.H. Stayt and Rev. Conrad Owen had charge of the service. A quartet consisting of Mrs. Frank Holbomb, Mrs. R.P. Lesh, Diane Kelly and Rev. Owen rendered several songs. The pallbearers were Howard Morrison, Amiel Weigelt, Harold Folsom and Donald Squire. Burial was in Grandview cemetery. Many beautiful floral pieces expressed the sympathy of friends for the bereaved family. The Colville examiner.
