Description	:	Loren Gene Nelson, the son of Louis and Helen (Buresh) Nelson, was born May 28, 1931 in Hamilton County, Nebraska. He departed this life on Wednesday, Sept. 17,2003 at the Rose Brook Care Center in Edgar, Neb. at the age of 72 years 3 months and 20 days. Loren attended schools in Oak and Nelson. At the age of 17 Loren enlisted in the United States Army and was sent to serve his country during the Korean War. Read More	Loren Gene Nelson, the son of Louis and Helen (Buresh) Nelson, was born May 28, 1931 in Hamilton County, Nebraska. He departed this life on Wednesday, Sept. 17,2003 at the Rose Brook Care Center in Edgar, Neb. at the age of 72 years 3 months and 20 days. Loren attended schools in Oak and Nelson. At the age of 17 Loren enlisted in the United States Army and was sent to serve his country during the Korean War. Loren had spent most of his adult life in Phoenix, Ariz. as a carpenter building homes. Loren returned to the Davenport, Neb. area in 1988. On May 12, 1990 Loren was united in marriage to Opal Pauline Drapal in Edgar. Loren was employed at the Rose Brook Care Home in Edgar as a maintenance man for five years and did his carpentry work as a pastime. In 1997 Loren was confined to the nursing home, due to failing health. In his spare time, Loren dearly enjoyed being in the out-of-doors, camping, fishing and hunting when time permitted. He is preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter. Survivors include his wife, Pauline Nelson of Edgar; sons, Lynn Nelson and wife Holly of Scottsdale, Ariz.; Stuart Nelson and wife Tracie of Eldorado Hills, Calif.; daughter, Marcia Pool and husband Jim of Ariz.; step-daughters Linda Griess and husband Mike of North Loop, Neb.; Cynthia Springer and husband Doug of Hastings; sisters, Bonnie Jensen of Lincoln and Delores Renz of Lincoln; grandchildren, Blake, Erica, Brent and Darren of Ariz.; his good friends Don and Marilyn Mosier of Edgar; several step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Memorial services were held Saturday, Sept. 20,2003 at 10:30 a,m. at Edgar Cemetery in Edgar. Pastor David King will be officiating. Military graveside honors by Ft. Riley, Kan. Williams Funeral Home of Edgar is in charge of the arrangements. Hebron Journal September 24, 2003.
